SUEZ and PYREG, a global leader in organic waste pyrolysis solutions, are pleased to announce the deployment of Pyrolis® S2B, an innovative integrated solution for pyrocarbonisation. This cutting-edge technology converts sewage sludge into biochar, offering a sustainable carbon sequestration solution while supporting the circular economy.

• SUEZ has been awarded the contract for supplying sludge dewatering solution for the Relocation of Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works to Caverns by the Drainage Services Department (DSD) of Hong Kong SAR Government. The project will be delivered by SUEZ, leveraging a sludge dewatering technology developed and continuously improved over more than 15 years through SUEZ’s collaboration with Bucher Unipektin AG.
• This sludge dewatering contract covers design, equipment supply and delivery for the new Sha Tin Cavern Sewage Treatment Works (STCSTW).
• Scheduled for completion in 2030, the new facility is set to become one of Asia’s largest sewage treatment plants built inside an artificial cave. With its compact design and advanced process standards, the STCSTW will optimise land use and set a new benchmark for sustainable, green infrastructure in Hong Kong.

Sydetom66 has awarded SUEZ and the Banque des Territoires the public service delegation contract for the operation of the waste treatment and recovery facility located in Calce, near the city of Perpignan (66). This 12-year contract, worth nearly €420 million, includes the construction and operation of three complementary waste sorting and recovery infrastructures: a new selective collection sorting centre, a new preparation centre for non-recyclable waste from waste collection centres, and the existing energy-from-waste plant. The contract is set to commence on June 30th, 2026.

SUEZ, the leading operator of energy-from-waste plants in France with 34 facilities, once again demonstrates through this project its expertise and dedication to delivering high-performance infrastructure that drives its clients’ environmental transition.

Starting on July 3, 2026, SUEZ, with financial support from the Banque des Territoires, will operate the Hérault Méditerranée Urban Community’s drinking water, sewerage and on-site sanitation services for 15 years, through a dedicated company. This new agreement highlights the Urban Community’s investments in the energy transition and in preserving water resources throughout a coastal area characterised by chronic water stress, significant seasonal population fluctuations, and vulnerable natural environments.

• SUEZ, through its joint venture Chongqing Derun Simbond , with Chongqing Derun Environment, has been awarded the hexavalent chromium contamination risk-mitigation project at the former site of Chongqing Chemical & Pharmaceutical Holding Group’s Minfeng Chemical Plant, Chongqing. 

• The contract was awarded to the consortium led by Chongqing Derun Simbond based on the joint venture’s technical solutions, experience in heavy-metal decontamination projects, and project delivery capabilities. The contract value is approximately RMB 110 million.

• This project forms part of broader remediation efforts targeting chemically contaminated sites along the Yangtze River to support its ecological conservation.

• Syctom, a major player in waste management in the Île-de-France region serving nearly 6 million inhabitants, has entrusted the SUEZ and Chantiers Modernes Construction (a VINCI Construction subsidiary) consortium with the reconstruction and operation of the Romainville–Bobigny household waste treatment center in Seine-Saint-Denis.
• This €465 million, 10-year contract includes €237 million of investment to modernize the facility, notably enabling it to receive household biowaste from the territory.
• Syctom is investing in river transport of waste to reduce road traffic and associated CO2 emissions, thanks to the construction of a river port terminal on the Ourcq Canal.
• To deliver this project, a single-operation semi-public company was established from the works phase, not solely for the operating phase. This structure aligns partners’ interests across the entire project lifecycle.

• SUEZ announces the signature of new collaborative initiatives with local partners from Jiangsu and Shandong provinces to deepen cooperation in water and waste management sectors.
• These two partnerships that reinforce SUEZ’s strategic focus on the Chinese market, will directly contribute to the country’s ecological transition.

• INNOV’EAU, a call for projects launched by the French government to support innovation in the water sector, has selected the Carb’eau project, led by Groupe BORDET, SUEZ and CNRS, the French national centre for scientific research.
• Carb’eau develops a plant-based activated carbon, made in France, to reduce the environmental footprint of a material essential for water treatment. This new technology demonstrates proven efficacy in eliminating micropollutants, while contributing to national sovereignty.

On the occasion of the 2025 edition of the Salon des Maires et des Collectivités Locales (France’s Exhibition dedicated to local public authorities), SUEZ and the Fondation Jean Jaurès publish a report entitled “Water, a common good under pressure – Rethinking its financing to secure its future” to alert public authorities and society to the urgent need to reform the financing of water and sanitation services in France.

The Grand Paris Seine & Oise Urban Community (CU GPS&O) has renewed the contract awarded to SUEZ to provide wastewater treatment services for 24 municipalities in the Yvelines department. This €33 million eight-year contract aims to transform the Mureaux wastewater treatment plant into a key facility supporting the ecological transition in the Île-de-France region and engaging with its local community.
