Purification, desalination, management of the integrated water service, innovative technological solutions

We have a proven track record and extensive experience in the Middle East in designing, building, and managing drinking water and wastewater treatment facilities and networks. We are also dedicated to researching and developing advanced, innovative, and digital technological solutions.

Water and wastewater Networks

In Saudi Arabia, as a strategic partner, we play a key role in supporting the implementation of the Saudi National Water Strategy. Through a seven-years contract which started in 2023, in consortium with Al-Awael Modern Contracting Group (AWAEL) with its affiliate Civil Works Company (CWC), we manage water and wastewater services for the Western Cluster — home to over 9 million people across the cities of Jeddah, Mecca, and Taif. We  serve more than 320,000 customers, delivering innovative, sustainable solutions to enhance water services across the region.

In Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, we are part of a Salinity Reduction Project. This initiative is supported by advanced digital technologies, including the Smart Sewer Ball pilot program, which enables real-time monitoring and detailed analysis of salinity hotspots within the sewer network. This innovative approach helps identify sources of salinity and supports targeted interventions to improve water quality across the system.

In Qatar, we have been awarded a 3-year contract to support Non-Revenue Water (NRW) management through advanced leak detection services for Kahramaa. At the core of this initiative is iDroloc, our cutting-edge helium gas tracer technology, designed to precisely detect and reduce hidden leaks, boosting network efficiency and preserving valuable water resources.

Water desalination

In Jordan, The Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan has signed a 30-year concession contract with the Meridiam and SUEZ-led consortium to develop a landmark desalination and water conveyance project. Designed to supply safe drinking water to over 3 million people in Amman and Aqaba, the initiative will significantly enhance national water security. With a capacity of 851,000 m³/day, the future plant will be the second largest desalination facility in the world, covering up to 40% of Jordan’s drinking water needs. The project will play a vital role in improving the quality of life for the Jordanian population and ensuring long-term sustainable water access.

In Amaala , Saudi Arabia, in consortium with EDF and MASDAR, we have been selected by RED SEA CO. to deliver a groundbreaking sustainable utilities solution for the iconic Amaala tourism destination. The project includes the design, build, and operation of a desalination plant, with a capacity of 37 million liters of drinking water per day securing the needed base load around the clock.

We are in charge of:

  • 2 years of Engineering and Procurement
  • 25 years of Operation & Maintenance

This ambitious initiative supports the Kingdom’s vision for regenerative tourism and sustainable development in the Red Sea region.

Wastewater treatment

The Amaala, Saudi Arabia project includes also for us, in consortium with EDF and MASDAR, the design, build, and operation of a 5.9 million liters per day wastewater treatment plant with advanced treatment, to produce high-quality water for irrigation.

Digital Solutions for Water

In Saudi Arabia, we are deploying several key digital innovations. To support the development and planning of next-generation water infrastructure in key development projects, we have deployed Optimizer™ a hydraulic network design tool offering enhanced artificial intelligence to enhance the planning and CAPEX outcomes. To support operation of water transmission and distribution networks, we are deploying AquAdvanced, our real-time monitoring and optimization platform, which helps utilities achieve aggressive NRW and sustainability targets. These solutions are help our customers in the region build smarter, more efficient water networks. Our AquAdvanced technology package includes a range of digital tools for energy saving of plants, real-time monitoring of water distribution networks and advanced management of Smart Meters.

Real time monitoring application

In Oman, we are deploying the AssetAdvanced platform to enhance infrastructure planning and optimization. Together, these cutting-edge tools empower utilities to optimize performance, extend asset life, and drive sustainable water management.

Recycling and recovery of industrial and municipal waste solutions

We are committed to the prevention, reuse, recycling and recovery of waste materials, supporting our customers throughout the supply chain, transforming waste into resources, local and sustainable energy sources or secondary raw materials.

Produce and consume local renewable energy from your waste

We transform your residual waste into electricity and heat, helping to meet local renewable energy needs, whether industrial or domestic.

Each year, 5 million tons of waste are converted into energy. We transform your residual waste into electricity and heat, helping to meet local renewable energy needs, whether industrial or domestic.

We manage 43 EfW around the world.

Landfill

Landfilling involves specialist engineering and management to prevent pollution, extract gas for energy, and reclaim the land for amenity or agricultural use.

Hazardous waste

We provide our customers with the knowledge and technologies to promote the ecological transition, offering solutions for the recovery of materials and energy. In Saudi Arabia, we have been selected by SIRC (Saudi Investment Recycling Company) as a strategic partner to help establish the foundations of a circular economy in the Kingdom, a key pillar of Saudi Vision 2030. As part of this partnership, we are also co-developing specialized medical waste treatment solutions in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam, supporting the Kingdom’s environmental and public health goals. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to sustainable resource management and innovation in waste treatment.

Waste sorting and processing

We work closely with you to develop customised waste sorting and treatment solutions. Whether for regular waste management services or for specific needs related to events or projects, we adapt our services to effectively meet your requirements by offering you:

  • A sorting and treatment solution adapted to the material to be recycled or treated (in terms of quality, quantity, safety)
  • The guarantee of the best sorting and processing solution with full traceability. We favour the recycling of materials before their energy recovery when recycling is not possible.

Biochar, a scalable carbon sink and a high-value material

The biochar is a scalable carbon sink that sequesters for centuries the atmospheric carbon that has previously been absorbed by plants through photosynthesis. It is also a high-value material that can be integrated in many products, activities, and services.

Digital Solutions for waste recycling and recovery

Our connected solutions allow customers to streamline and optimize their waste containers by measuring their fill levels and positioning and access to them, and to improve service quality by giving waste management staff real-time information and allowing digital supervision of the service. The various enterprise software modules that can be used in SaaS mode make it easier to manage containers and plan waste collections. Our embedded mobile applications guide our teams on the ground so that collections are optimized, and collect real-time information that is useful for their work. We developed WasteConnect™ for waste: a complete line dedicated to optimizing collection at the service of local authorities and private companies.

> Learn more about WasteConnect™ for waste

In order to optimize our waste sorting and treatment services, we are developing digital solutions across our entire value chain: customer portal, artificial intelligence, containers connected thanks to the IOT, etc.

We use advanced technologies to optimise our waste sorting and treatment operations. Our facilities are equiped with real-time monitoring systems, allowing for more efficient management of waste streams and a reduction in carbon footprint.
