Biodiversity: SUEZ Partners with the League for the Protection of Birds (LPO France)

As part of its Sustainable Development roadmap, SUEZ has made ambitious commitments regarding the preservation of natural resources and biodiversity. Among these commitments is the deployment of action plans to preserve biodiversity and promote its development on sites operated by the Group that have been identified as “priority sites”.

The partnership with LPO aims to accelerate this effort, relying on the association’s expertise, territorial network, and knowledge of local biodiversity to support SUEZ teams in implementing their biodiversity action plans

The partnership includes a sponsorship component, to support the “Protection of Natural Areas” program led by LPO, and a technical support component for SUEZ’s teams.

The latter will focus both on structuring actions for the Group at the global level, such as the development of a methodological framework or the eco-design of solutions; and targeted local actions, such as conducting fauna and flora surveys on water management sites in France that have been identified as “priority sites”.

It builds on the numerous collaborations between local SUEZ and LPO teams. For example, at the Pecq Croissy drinking water production site, public visits are organized to the Coulée verte, a 35-hectare area that fosters biodiversity, led by expert LPO guides. Another example is the support of the SUEZ Foundation for the “More Nature in My Neighborhood” program, which combines biodiversity and social cohesion at the heart of priority urban neighborhoods.

LPO works daily to protect nature through three main missions: the knowledge and conservation of biodiversity; the preservation and management of natural spaces; and environmental education and public engagement.

In 2025, the association contributes to the preservation of over 10,000 km² of natural spaces in France, an area equivalent to the Gironde department. It relies in particular on expert naturalists (botanists, ornithologists, entomologists), a network of 38,000 active contributors of naturalist data, and 9,000 volunteers throughout the national territory.
