European Sustainable Development Week: SUEZ reveals the 17 commitments of the 2017-2021 Sustainable Development Roadmap
For the European Sustainable Development Week, from 30 May to 5 June 2017, SUEZ presents its 2017-2021 Sustainable Development Roadmap. With four priorities and 17 commitments, the new roadmap provides genuine leverage to transform the Group and to achieve their objectives set for 2021
As a key player working for economic, environmental and social progress, SUEZ has established its 2017-2021 Sustainable Development Roadmap on four priorities:
- Priority N°1: Be a collaborative, open and responsible company
- Priority N°2: Be the leader of the circular and low-carbon economy
- Priority N°3: Support with concrete solutions the environmental transition of our clients
- Priority N°4: Contribute to the common good
The new Roadmap renews some of the previous commitments made for 2008-2012 and 2012-2016, while setting even more ambitious goals, particularly on employees’ health and safety, material recovery and waste-to-energy, and the reduction of our greenhouse gas emissions. It also addresses emerging issues by proposing action plans to better meet the challenges of globalisation, such as respecting Human Rights and favouring collaborative ways of working.
The 2017-2021 Roadmap was drawn up on the basis of a broad internal and external consultation of more than 5,000 people (employees, shareholders and investors, the public sector, the private sector, education and research, civil society and journalists) in 49 countries that helped to build a hierarchy of issues and to prioritise them, producing therefore 17 major commitments.
