SUEZ launches its Climate Collage. 90,000 employees to participate

Working alongside La Fresque du Climat association, SUEZ has announced the worldwide launch of its Climate Collage, a workshop-style learning game based on collective intelligence. Our goal: to create a platform for our 90,000-strong workforce to identify the causes and effects of climate change giving them a sense of purpose in their day-to-day work and inspiring them step up their efforts towards building a sustainable environment, starting today.

The core focus of the Climate Collage project is helping groups to understand the various factors that influence climate change by studying cause and effect relationships. This educational and collaborative game created by Cédric Ringenbach, an engineer specializing in energy and climate-related issues, raises awareness of climate change amongst companies, the general public, and in the educational community.

The worldwide deployment of the Climate Collage, which began on February 4 with the 250 senior managers, was suspended during the COVID-19 crisis, but the training of animators continued. Deployment has started again in China since May and will continue globally throughout 2021. SUEZ will organize hundreds of educational workshops, in groups of 6 to 10 people, throughout the world, in strict compliance with health regulations.

The 90,000 employees will thus be able to grasp the difference between weather and climate, realize that only 5°C separates us from the heart of the last ice age 20,000 years ago, understand what permafrost is and why its melting would be a threat to humanity, identify what causes the rise of sea levels, or what life on earth would look like at the end of the century if nothing changes.

The initial workshop will be complemented by a special session focusing on how Suez’s business activities contribute to addressing climate and environment-related challenges. This is the perfect opportunity for each employee to increase their daily involvement in meaningful business activities that have a positive impact on our planet’s future.

SUEZ has made the commitment of its employees one of the pillars of its "Shaping SUEZ 2030" strategic plan. For this reason, the final stage of the workshop provides an overview of the ambitious commitments in our strategic plan (reducing our greenhouse gas emissions by 45%, saving our customers 20 million tons of CO2 emissions every year, and building 100% sustainable solutions offer). Employees are thus invited to imagine together how to achieve these objectives, and undertake to speed up their contribution, both professional and personal, to build a sustainable environment now, in line with SUEZ's purpose, unveiled at the last General Shareholders' Meeting.

Frédéric Giuli, Treasurer of The Climate Collage association, commented: By partnering with The Climate Collage, SUEZ is offering all its employees the chance to understand the staggering challenges posed by the climate crisis. A good grasp of the facts is the first key step towards achieving transformation on the same scale at which this phenomenon is occurring. During the workshops, I observed employees who are not only enthusiastic, but also deeply grateful for the opportunity that they have been given to contribute to meeting the 2030 targets and reducing their environmental impact.
