Circular economy

SUEZ is testing Circulytics, a new tool for assessing circular economy policies created by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation

The Ellen MacArthur Foundation has developed an innovative tool to evaluate circular economy practices and their results. SUEZ is the only environmental company so far that has put it to the test.

The Ellen MacArthur Foundation has created an innovative tool known as Circulytics, which aims to assess the reality of an organisation’s transition towards the circular economy, regardless of its industry, complexity and size. It reveals the extent to which a company has achieved circularity across its entire operations. Circulytics uses a wide set of indicators: corporate strategy, innovation policy, staff knowledge and skills, excellence in operational practice and the involvement of all stakeholders, as well as the company’s products, services and facilities.

Shaping a circular economy is a central part of SUEZ’s purpose. Convinced by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s expertise and educational approach to the subject, the Group decided to test the tool.

According to Jean-Marc Boursier, Group Senior Executive VP in charge of the France region and Group Chief Operating Officer:

As a result of the assessment, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation highlighted the following points as very positive: the SUEZ 2030 strategy, the group’s sustainable development road map, the stakeholders’ association (employees, customers, suppliers, decision-makers, investors etc.) and the digitalisation of solutions that fully incorporate the goals of the circular economy.
