SUEZ Safety Week 2026 Reinforces Everyday Safety Across India

At SUEZ in India, safety is more than a priority, it is a core value embedded in everything we do. During Safety Week 2026 (April 20–24), this commitment was brought to life through a series of impactful initiatives across sites nationwide.

Centred on the theme "The Seatbelt – A Click That Changes It All," the campaign highlighted a simple but critical reminder: safety extends beyond the workplace into our daily lives. Simple actions like wearing a seatbelt or helmet can make a life-saving difference.

Building Awareness Through Engagement

Over 100 toolbox talks were conducted across SUEZ sites in India. Designed as interactive discussions rather than one-way sessions, these engagements encouraged colleagues to share experiences, observations and practical safety insights.

The conversations focused on the importance of seatbelt usage for all occupants, including those in front and rear seats, reinforcing that road safety is a shared responsibility.

Focus on High-Risk Operations

Targeted sessions were organised for vehicle operators and construction plant drivers, addressing risks associated with high-risk operations. These sessions reinforced the mandatory use of seatbelts as a critical life-saving practice and emphasised disciplined behaviour while operating vehicles and equipment.

Real Stories, Real Impact

Classroom training sessions and commitment meetings formed an important part of the campaign. Colleagues discussed real-life accidents linked to seatbelt non-compliance and reflected on the consequences of unsafe driving practices.

Several colleagues also shared personal experiences where seatbelts had helped prevent serious injuries or fatalities involving themselves, friends or family members. These stories brought authenticity to the campaign and strengthened its message across teams.

Reinforcing Life-Saving Rules

The Safety Week campaign also reiterated SUEZ's key Life Saving Rules:

  • LSR 8: Avoid using phones or handling devices while driving or operating equipment
  • LSR 9: Never work under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • LSR 10: Signal clearly and check blind spots before manoeuvring vehicles or equipment

These discussions encouraged colleagues to adopt safer practices both at work and in daily life.

Ensuring Vehicle Safety Standards

Comprehensive vehicle inspections were conducted across sites to assess seatbelt functionality and overall vehicle condition. The results confirmed strong compliance and consistent maintenance standards across SUEZ sites in India.

Extending the Message Beyond Seatbelts

Building on the momentum, the campaign was further extended with a “Wear Helmet Awareness Campaign – Shield Against Serious Injury.” The initiative encouraged two-wheeler riders to wear helmets consistently and responsibly, expanding the campaign’s focus from workplace safety to everyday road safety habits.

Insights from External Experts

External safety experts and traffic police personnel were invited to engage with teams and share practical insights on road safety regulations, compliance and personal accountability. These sessions added valuable real-world perspectives and reinforced the importance of making safe choices every day.

Strong Employee Participation with Positive Feedback

An employee survey highlighted the campaign’s success through the following response:

  • Around 98% of respondents were aware of the ongoing Seatbelt and Helmet Awareness Campaign
  • Approximately 92% had heard the message shared by Group HSE Lead Soizic Machado on seatbelt safety
  • Nearly 90% said the activities conducted in their regions helped reinforce the campaign’s message
  • About 96% agreed that such campaigns positively contribute to the health and safety of employees and stakeholders

The feedback highlighted the campaign’s strong reach and meaningful employee participation.

Building a Safe Future Together

SUEZ Safety Week 2026 reinforced an important message: safety begins with simple actions practised consistently every day. Whether fastening a seatbelt, wearing a helmet or following safe driving practices, these habits play a vital role in protecting lives.

Through active participation, continuous learning and collective responsibility, SUEZ in India continues to strengthen a culture where safety remains at the heart of its operations.
