Optimising sanitation of wastewater in your territory
We design and build wastewater treatment solutions that enable you to comply with your regulatory obligations for environmental protection.
Biological treatment is at the heart of a treatment plant and constitutes a major lever to optimize both quality and capacity:
- Eliminate pollution: we offer advanced biological processes that remove carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus nutrients.
- Optimise plant footprint: we propose innovative densification solutions to boost biological treatment. Whether in an existing or new facility, these solutions deliver more efficient treatment within a smaller volume and with fewer chemicals.
- Control energy consumption: thanks to our smart regulation systems in biological basins, the airflow can be precisely adapted to the pollution load.
We tailor treatments to the sensitivity of the receiving environment:
- Refine the quality of treated wastewater: we employ filtration processes to remove residual pollution.
- Disinfect treated wastewater for specific uses (recreational uses such as bathing, shellfish farming, etc.).
- Treat stormwater pollution: we offer dedicated treatment lines or adapt the main treatment chain to handle overloads.
Eliminating micropollutants
Whether your installations are new or existing, we design and build treatment chains adapted to micropollutant removal. Benefit from advanced or integrated treatments: oxidation, adsorption, or combined with biological processes to reduce micropollutants.
We have recognised analytical capabilities for PFAS and continue developing technology identification across different matrices.
Managing the environmental footprint of your plant
We support you in designing and constructing custom treatment infrastructures adapted to your environmental, energy, and demographic challenges, as well as local constraints.
- Land and architectural integration: we adapt the plant scale to available space and integrate it harmoniously into the landscape.
- Reduce your carbon footprint: we commit to minimising greenhouse gas emissions from your facilities to move toward net zero carbon.
- Decrease energy consumption: we innovate to lower energy needs in treatment lines via advanced and intelligent control of biological aeration, ventilation, and air treatment, and through use of high-efficiency motors.
- Recover and valorise process waste heat: reuse heat from equipment, motors, treated wastewater, sludge incineration, etc.
- Generate renewable electricity via photovoltaic panels, treated water turbines, etc.
- Produce biogas from sewage sludge for energy valorisation.
- Manage air quality and odors to ensure health, safety, and local acceptance. We provide air treatment solutions to protect operators at varying exposure levels and ensure comfort for both staff and residents, combating odor nuisance.
Towards a new generation of wastewater treatment plants: the Biofactory
By recovering and reusing resources from your plant, we increase territorial resilience against environmental challenges. Your plant becomes a Biofactory, a hub for generating green energy and bioresources.
Give a second life to your treated wastewater (REUT)
Recover and valorise phosphorus as a valuable fertilizer
Harness energy
Sludge from wastewater treatment is a renewable, inexhaustible, non-fossil energy source. The energy contained in biogas from sludge methanation contributes significantly to the energy self-sufficiency of the treatment plant. Our plants are designed to:
- Produce electricity and heat via biogas cogeneration for internal or external uses
- Produce biomethane (green gas) by purifying biogas for grid injection or biofuel production
Valorise sewage sludge: biosolids as a resource
We propose solutions matching the potential outlets for sludge in your territory (mono or multi-valorisation):
- Land application: stabilisation and sanitisation of sludge to secure soil return. When not feasible, sludge can be directed to thermal valorisation pathways.
- Co-composting with green waste when sludge quality permits
Capture bioCO₂ and valorise it
Our processes to safeguard the future of water resources
We are committed to developing cutting-edge technologies to deliver high-performance wastewater treatment plants that meet your territory’s environmental challenges.
We propose comprehensive water treatment solutions that leverage optimized technologies at each stage:
- Screening, sieving, grit removal, grease removal
- Primary settling (Sedipac®, Densadeg®)
- Biological treatment and clarification (Biofor®, Cyclor®, Meteor®, Ultrafor®, GreenBASS®)
- Tertiary treatment: lamellar sedimentation (Densadeg®), polishing by sand filtration (Aquazur® V), tertiary disk filtration for suspended solids removal (Compakblue®), adsorption or oxidation of micropollutants (Carbablue®, Oxyblue® with Bio3 or BioPAC options), ultrafiltration (Ultrablue®)

Frequently asked questions
There are two main families of wastewater treatment plants:
- Domestic wastewater treatment plants: these plants are designed to treat wastewater from houses, flats and other residences
- Industrial wastewater treatment plants: These plants are designed to treat wastewater from industrial processes, which may contain specific pollutants such as heavy metals or toxic products.
New trends in domestic wastewater treatment aim to improve efficiency, sustainability, and environmental impact. This includes producing green energy, reusing treated water, recovering nutrients, using advanced technologies, automating and controlling operations in real time, and harmoniously integrating facilities into their environment. These innovations make wastewater treatment plants more self-sufficient and environmentally friendly, and more beneficial to the communities they serve. One example is our Water Resources Recovery Station (STARRE), the Biofactory.se innovations aim to make wastewater treatment plants more self-sufficient, more environmentally friendly and more beneficial to the communities they serve, this is our Water Resources Recovery Station (STARRE), the Biofactory.
Water that has been treated at wastewater treatment plants is usually returned to the environment, typically to rivers, lakes or the sea. However, thanks to advanced treatment processes, the water can also be reused for agricultural irrigation, industrial processes, recharging groundwater or for non-potable urban uses.
In some cases, the water can even be reused as drinking water after further treatment.
