Pulp & paper industry

Atmospheric emissions, and odoriferous gases (in particular) with high concentrations of Sulphur compounds, along with energy consumption and generation of wastewater are the three major environmental problems of the pulp and paper industry.
These emissions come from point sources as well surface and diffuse sources. The main pollutants emitted are nitrogen oxides, sulfur compounds such as sulfur dioxide (very odorous) and volatile organic compounds, as well as particles.

The SUEZ Air Quality & Climate team, with more than 25 years of experience, provides innovative solutions for monitoring, modeling and olfactometric studies and inspection of fugitive emissions in the paper industry. For the treatment of odours, we have the Best Available Technique on the market (BAP Advanced Biofiltration) complying with the most demanding emission limits. Likewise, our biogas treatment and upgrading solutions allow obtaining biomethane with the appropriate characteristics for its injection into the grid or use as LNG.
