SUEZ in India celebrates IDAHOBIT 2022
International Day against Homophobia Biphobia and Transphobia aka IDAHOBIT Day is a day to remind ourselves that no form of discrimination is acceptable and everyone has a right to make decisions about their body and their lives. This was also the theme for this years’ IDAHOBIT day celebrations- Our Bodies, Our Lives.
Established in 2004, IDAHOBIT Day is now celebrated in more than 130 countries including 37 where same-sex acts are illegal.
SUEZ in India staunchly supports a diverse and inclusive workspace. It is imperative that needs of the communities are well served, their issues are heard and addressed.
Every strand of this organisation’s DNA stems from the belief that a strong and successful workforce is the key behind the organisations’ success. SUEZ ‘s journey of 40+ years in India is a testament to this.
Engaging with our communities forms the backbone of what we do and how we represent ourselves as an entity. A recent example was the IDAHOBIT 2022 celebration, where SUEZ in India partnered with Gokhale Road Bandhan organization and the British Deputy High Commission along with other corporate partners in Kolkata, to mark the day. The forum facilitated discussions around the need to sensitise people about the rights of the LGBTIQ+ community, need to have strong HR policies in workspace and how to ensure the community feels an equal part of the society.
The event had a gathering of subject matter experts, representative from media, corporate stakeholders, youth and more. It was a successful event and highlighted SUEZ in India’s strong support to the community.
