Compact and high-rate lamellar clarifier with integrated sludge thickening

Densadeg is a high-rate solids contact clarifier and thickener that combines optimized coagulation/flocculation, internal/external sludge recirculation, and lamellar plate settling to deliver rapid clarification and dense sludge for direct dewatering feed.
The Densadeg process merges flash mixing and controlled flocculation with a lamellar settling zone and an integrated sludge thickener. Its patented hydrodynamics and solids recirculation produce strong, dense flocs that settle rapidly on plate settlers, generating clarified effluent and a concentrated sludge underflow. The result is a compact footprint, lower sludge transport volumes, and reduced downstream dewatering costs compared with conventional clarifiers.

Performance advantages for water and wastewater plants

Densadeg achieves high settling velocities, enhanced turbidity removal, and sludge concentrations suitable for direct dewatering—cutting chemical use, footprint, and lifecycle operating costs while improving treated water quality.

Optimized mixing energy and a controlled recirculation loop promote homogeneous floc formation and high settleability (typical settling velocities 1.09–2.19 ft/min or 20–40 m/h in lamellar zones). The integrated thickening stage yields sludge concentrations markedly higher than gravity clarifiers, enabling smaller dewatering units and less frequent sludge handling. Applications span drinking water clarification, municipal wastewater polishing, industrial effluent separation, water clarification, municipal wastewater polishing, and industrial effluent separation.

Process components and operational flexibility

Densadeg includes a flash mixer, mechanical and hindered flocculators, lamellar plate settlers, and internal/external sludge recirculation circuits, offering modular layouts and operational tuning for varied influent qualities.
Engineers can specify chemical dosing points, flocculation intensity, and recirculation ratios to match coagulation’s kinetics and solids’ loads. Lamella geometry and compartmentation minimize short circuiting and maximize hydraulic loading. The system supports seasonal or load  varying operations through adjustable recirculation and polymer dosing strategies while maintaining effluent clarity and sludge densification

Applications across sectors and retrofit suitability

Densadeg is proven in drinking water treatment, municipal and industrial wastewater plants, and stormwater treatment, its compact profile and fast commissioning make it ideal for retrofits and constrained sites. water
With hundreds of installations globally, Densadeg adapts to solids removal, softening pretreatment, and sludge thickening roles. Its small footprint and modular configuration allow integration into existing treatment trains as a performance upgrade or space saving replacement for conventional clarifiers. Typical use cases include turbidity reduction in potable treatment and pre-thickening before centrifuges or belt presses.

Benefits and lifecycle impacts for operators

Densadeg lowers capital footprint, reduces sludge volumes and handling frequency, and improves treated water quality, translating into lower OPEX, reduced chemical consumption, and smaller dewatering assets over the plant lifecycle.
Operators benefit from compact civil works, quicker commissioning, and fewer operating hours for sludge transfer and dewatering equipment. Concentrated sludge reduces haulage and disposal costs, while enhanced effluent clarity reduces downstream filtration burden. These advantages support both greenfield projects and cost-effective retrofits of existing assets.
