Supporting vulnerable populations
SUEZ supports disadvantaged populations and the social integration of people in distress through initiatives in France and around the world.
Improving the living standards of disadvantaged or distressed populations
Helping people to access water, sanitation and waste management or to re-enter the workforce are two major areas where we provide support and take concrete actions benefiting people where they live.
Taking concrete steps to benefit the people
Integrating the informal employment sector in developing countries
We’re taking specific steps in emerging countries to meet the challenge of integrating the informal economy with the formal one. In Morocco, for example, the rehabilitation of the household waste storage site in the city of Meknès includes the informal collectors already working at the site, who were given the chance to form a cooperative in order to pursue their employment under better work and safety conditions.

The "Maison pour Rebondir": encouraging integration and employment in France
Financed by the Fondation SUEZ, the "Maison pour Rebondir" is a unique and innovative organisation in France. Its goal is to act as a bridge between the social integration sector and SUEZ subsidiaries and partner companies. Since 2012, it has helped over 180 people in Bordeaux gain access to employment, including the creation of 45 new businesses. It has just set up its first branch in the Val-de-Marne department as well.
Aquassistance: helping people get access to essential services
Since its creation in 1994, Aquassistance has facilitated access to water, sanitation and waste management services for the populations of emerging countries. With one distinctive feature: it is made up entirely of SUEZ employee volunteers. With the help of several partners (NGOs, associations, local authorities, etc.), Aquassistance provides these populations not only with physical resources, but also with the skills of its expert members.
The Fondation SUEZ
The Fondation SUEZ supports concrete actions to sustainably develop access to essential services (water, sanitation and waste) for disadvantaged populations in emerging countries and to facilitate the integration of vulnerable individuals through training and employment in France. Its actions contributes to the achievement of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
