SUEZ subsidiary Culturespaces manages 12 exceptional sites in France and Belgium that in 2007 attracted 2 million visitors. Culturespaces arranges financial resources to showcase sites under contract, arranges long-term investment support, and provides site management and operational support. As leader in its sector, Culturespaces partners with local governments to turn their cultural assets to advantage.
For several years, SUEZ has supported classical music in Belgium and helped discover new musical talent. Young classical music talent has been supported through Musica Mundi, an international music internship and chamber music festival for young musicians aged 10 to 18. Interns come from all corners of the world (including South Africa, Byelorussia, Belgium, China, England, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Israel, Japan, Korea, Luxembourg, Moldavia, Holland, Norway, Poland, Rumania, Russia, and Ukraine). During their internships, which take place during the second half of July, they learn to work together under their professors. They also have the occasion to meet renowned artists who participate in the festivals and offer their experience to the young musicians.
Among the artists who participated during past years were:
Violinists Maxim Vengerov, Gidon Kremer, Ivry Gitlis;
Gypsy violinist Roby Lakatos;
Cellists Mischa Maisky, Heinrich Schiff;
Pianists Paul Badura-Skoda, Leif Ove Andsnes, Frank Braley, Itamar, Golan, Igor Ardasev, Fazil Say;
French pianist sisters, Katia and Marielle Labèque.
