Research centers

Two themes - energy and local environment - were the prime focus of Research, Development and Technology investments, which were made mainly in the Group’s technology and research centers.

 Energy, in two centers:

Laborelec(with 160 persons) near Brussels, is a source of electricity production and distribution know-how and is on the cutting edge of energy quality management and control.

Cylergie(15 persons) is based near Lyons in France and focuses on energy services, with special expertise in environmental impact surveillance and control.

Local environment focus in three centers:

CIRSEE (Centre International de Recherche Sur l'Eau et l'Environnement, our international water and environment research center - with a staff of 120) is based in the Paris region, where it works on all aspects of the water cycle. It is on the cutting edge in the use of molecular biology applications in water quality analysis. It also works on the waste cycle in conjunction with two others centers:

CERDEG (40 persons), which is also based in the Paris region, focuses on water treatment processes and the production of drinking water. It encompasses a large number of pilot projects.

DENARD (Degrémont North-America Research and Development – with a staff of five) is based in Richmond, Virginia in the United States, where it specializes in disinfection,  membrane technology and rapid decanting.
