Energy-saving certificates: Boosting our ‘energy efficiency' offering

Presented by Elyo

CONTEXT

On 1 July 2006, France launched its nine-year energy-saving certificates system. This scheme aims to modify energy consumption in the residential and tertiary sectors. To that end, actions such as installing high-efficiency equipment are rewarded with certificates, which can then be used by the players in question to prove that they have achieved a certain level of energy saving. Elyo saw this as an opportunity to go further and capitalise on its know-how in efficient energy management.

INNOVATION

Elyo has integrated the certificate system into its total offering in such a way that by entrusting it with the operation of their installations, its customers can enjoy better terms. Despite the novelty and sophistication of the measure, the analysis and calculation tools, the commercial support tools and the application files were very rapidly developed and distributed. Local adoption and mobilisation were immediate, involving more than a hundred operations centres, supported by a responsive organisation.

RESULTS

The certificates system proved decisive in the signing of numerous contracts, including the contract for municipal buildings in Auxerre (France) signed in June 2006 - ahead of the system's rollout ! Elyo was also the first private company to be actually awarded certificates, for an operation at Limoges (France). Less than a year after the system was launched, Elyo is working on a potential of nearly 5 TWh. This is a very significant figure given the national goal of saving 54 TWh - evidence of Elyo’s ability to “Make your energy more efficient”.
